Mayor Sarno, Superintendent Warwick, Principal Tokarz and Sheriff Cocchi Cheered on Central High School Golden Eagles Football Team

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Superintendent Daniel Warwick, Central Principal Tad Tokarz and Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi to cheer on our Central High School Golden Eagles Football team as they took on the nationally ranked St. John’s College High School in the game of the week on Saturday, September 24th. St. John’s is currently ranked as the #24 team in the country, according to MaxPreps.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I’m very proud because Central lived up to their name as the home of scholars and champions.  These guys came ready to win today. They could’ve won this game against a national powerhouse, especially since they were up at halftime, but Saint John’s knew they were in the game and changed its strategy by slowing it up.  It was a hard fought game, but we had a great time cheering on our Central High School Golden Eagles Football team as they took on the best our country has to offer, nationally ranked St. John’s.  I am proud of the players, Head Coach William Watson and his staff, Principal Tad Tokarz, the teachers and staff, and all the student athletes and their families for all of their accomplishments both on and off the field.  Even though this was a tough game against one of the best teams in the country, our players got some great experience and I know Coach Watson and his staff will have them ready for the next one!  Again, Central continues to prove they are the ‘Home of Scholars and Champions’!”
