Mayor Domenic J. Sarno enjoyed a visit from Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky from Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy. These visit have become a tradition over the years to welcome in Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year. As part of the visit, Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky presented the Mayor with a Honey Cake and blew the Shofar, a musical ram’s horn that represents continuity and a hopeful future. The significance of the Honey cake is that Honey does not go bad, it preserves, and for this reason stands for a Sweet New Year and preservation.

Mayor Sarno states, “First of all, Happy Birthday to my good friend Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky. God Bless you and wishing you continued success and happiness. It is always a pleasure to sit down and meet with my good friend Rabbi Kosofsky. I enjoy our conversations and deeply appreciate the time he takes to continue the tradition of the late Rabbi Dovid Edelman, and provide me with a blessing and prayer of good health, wisdom and strength. I want to thank Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky for playing the Shofar and gifting me with this Honey cake as part of the Rosh Hashanah custom and tradition, where Honey symbolizes the hope of a Sweet New Year for not only those of Jewish heritage but for everyone too!”
