Lavar Click-Bruce sworn in as Ward 5 City Councilor

Lavar Click-Bruce took the oath of office as the new Ward 5 City Councilor on Thursday, September 15, 2022 with many family, friends and co-workers in attendance. The swearing in ceremony was held in the City Council Chambers presided by City Council President Jesse Lederman with City Clerk Gladys Oyola-Lopez giving the oath of office. Mayor Sarno spoke and congratulated his former mayoral aide, calling him a humble, honest and respectful young man who will serve his constituents and our city well in this new capacity.

City Councilors Maria Perez, Mike Fenton, Melvin Edwards, Victor Davila, Tim Allen and Tracye Whitfield, and State Representatives Bud Williams, Carlos Gonzalez and Brian Ashe were also in attendance.   

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to Coach Lavar and a special shoutout to his family, especially wife Renee, their beautiful children, father George, and proud US veteran and Ward 5 resident Jim too.  Lavar is very humble, smart and capable and I know he will represent his constituents and our city with distinction.  I am looking forward to working with him as we work together to move our city of Springfield forward for the better for everyone.  Again, congratulations Lavar and all of us here in the Mayor’s Office wish you continued success and all the best!”
