|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno congratulates Sheryl Lee Ralph on winning her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary. Ralph is only the second Black actress to win in the category; Jacqueline ‘Jackee’ Harry won the award in 1987 for her work on the NBC sitcom 227.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to Sheryl Lee Ralph on this well-deserved honor and recognition! My daughter Chiara, who is now an elementary school special education teacher here in our city, loves the show and Sheryl’s character!  I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Sheryl Lee Ralph years ago when she was visiting Springfield, she is a very intelligent, beautiful and talented woman!  So genuine and personable too.  Congratulations!”
