Mayor Sarno, Mayor Vieau and Mayor Garcia Join with American Red Cross for Mayor’s Blood Donation

|   Community News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Mayor John Vieau of Chicopee and Mayor Joshua Garcia of Holyoke for a Mayor’s Blood Donation event at the American Red Cross. Nia Rennix, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Central-Western Mass Chapter reached out to the three mayors to help organize this special blood donation event.

Mayor Sarno states, “We may not be the three Tenors, but we three mayors, Mayor Vieau and Mayor Garcia, came together today to donate blood – the sweet music to help save lives.  This is personal for me.  My late mother, Clara Sarno, had to go through many blood transfusions.  Also, pre-pandemic, my administration had supported and partnered with the Red Cross by holding three yearly blood drive events both here in City Hall, in addition to the ones held at their facility, in which I am always proud and happy to give blood.  I am proud to join with Nia Rennix and her dedicated team at the American Red Cross to donate blood and to help raise awareness on how vital and important it is to donate blood.  Many individuals still depend on volunteer donors to receive life-saving transfusions and I am proud to stand with our American Red Cross of Western Massachusetts in sharing this gift of life!”
