Mayor Sarno Meets with Commonwealth Murals and Springfield Cultural Partnership for Updates on Fresh Paint Springfield Event

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, joined by Chief Development Officer Timothy Sheehan, met today with Karen Finn, Executive Director of the Springfield Cultural Partnership, and Britt Ruhe, Director of Common Wealth Murals, to discuss updates on the annual Fresh Paint Springfield event that was launched in 2019. Fresh Paint Springfield is a downtown mural festival produced by Common Wealth Murals in collaboration with the Springfield Cultural Partnership. This year’s event will take place from September 11 – September 17, 2022.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “The City and I are happy to continue to support the Fresh Paint Springfield mural festival that began in 2019.  Simply put, these murals bring a welcoming vibrancy and creativity to our downtown. Britt Ruhe and her Common Wealth Murals team do an excellent job managing the festival each year. I was pleased to meet with Britt along with Karen Finn of the Springfield Cultural Partnership today to learn about ideas to further expand the festival, which in years past has helped enhance our city’s aesthetics and pedestrian experience, leading to people spending money by patronizing our business and cultural amenities. We will continue to support Fresh Paint, however, I also encouraged the Fresh Paint organizers to follow up with our Springfield State Delegation to tap into the $5 billion in ARPA funding at the state level. We are all looking forward to this year’s Fresh Paint Springfield events coming up in September.”
