Mayor Sarno welcomes Dinesh Patel and Delegation from India

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe welcomed local business owner Dinesh Patel and a delegation from India today. The discussion included the continued efforts of bringing economic development and job opportunities to Springfield and continuing to enhance our downtown with the improvements at Tower Square, owned by Mr. Patel and his business group, which will also be bring back the Marriott Hotel. In addition, this year will mark the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence from the United Kingdom. To mark this occasion, Mr. Patel and his business partners will be holding a series of events to celebrate and mark their country’s day of independence with a flag raising ceremony at City Hall and at the newly minted Marriott Hotel.

Mayor Sarno states, “Always a pleasure to welcome and meet with my friend Dinesh Patel.  Mr. Patel and his partners have done a tremendous job in enhancing Tower Square, a newly redone Marriott Hotel, and our downtown area.  I am looking forward to joining with them as we continue to celebrate Springfield’s vibrant and diverse community on Sunday, August 14 at Tower Square and Monday, August 15 at City Hall as we celebrate and acknowledge the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence with a flag raising ceremony.  Indian Americans have contributed so much to our Springfield, the Commonwealth and our nation, especially in the business, education and medical fields.  My administration is proud to support and recognize the great contributions India has made in the world and in friendship to the United States.”
