Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Gandara CEO Lois Nesci and her team for taking the time to meet with me and my dedicated city team to continue our ongoing discussions on how we can enhance and expand our commitment to responding to mental health calls for service. Mental health is such an important issue and making the resources available for those in need is so important. Just last week, working with Councilor Zaida Govan and partnering with Gandara, MHA and Baystate, we held a Mental Health Check-in Day at Court Square to help increase awareness and dispel the stigmatism that is usually associated with someone seeking mental health assistance.”
“Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, along with Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi are committed to making resources available when responding to any mental health call for service,” Mayor Sarno continued. “Our brave and dedicated city team, in partnership with our local nonprofit agencies, like Gandara, are committed to connecting those individuals in need with the services and resources that are available.”
