Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood held a promotional pinning and academy graduation ceremony at the Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College today.
Superintendent Clapprood promoted Springfield Police Sergeants David Arroyo, Pablo Feliciano and Joseph Piemonte to the rank of Lieutenant. Springfield Police Officers Runuel Bibby, Raymond Mateo Jr., Juan Estrada-Marquez and Elizer Vasquez were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Academy Class #0622 graduated 38 recruits from the Springfield Police Academy today and 31 of them were sworn in to the Springfield Police Department at the ceremony. The remaining graduates were sworn into other departments: West Springfield Police Department (3), Springfield College Department of Public Safety (3) and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department (1).
Mayor Sarno stated, "I am proud to congratulate our brave and dedicated Springfield Police Officers who were promoted to Lieutenant today, as well as those promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Thank you to each and every one of you and your families for your service and continued brave and dedicated efforts in keeping our Springfield and the community safe.”
Mayor Sarno continued, “I am also proud to congratulate the academy graduates on being sworn in to the Springfield Police Department. I am thankful to these young men and women and their families for stepping up and making this sacrifice to serve and protect all of our residents and business community with courage, professionalism, honor and integrity. Godspeed to them all.”
