|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, Director of Capital Asset Construction Peter Garvey, Deputy Parks Director Peter Krupczak and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe visited with the residents at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing to discuss the refilling of Watershop Pond and the completion of the Watershop dam restoration project on Lake Massasoit. The senior residents were scheduled to take a bus tour along the Watershop pond to learn more about the work that was completed and when they can expect to see the water levels return to normal.

Mayor Sarno states, “It is always nice to visit with the residents at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing, they are always so welcoming and eager to learn more about the great work that is happening in our city.  I want to thank Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan, Parks Deputy Director Peter Krupczak, Capital Asset Construction Director Peter Garvey, Director of Disaster Recovery Tina Quagliato-Sullivan and the entire city team for their continued dedicated efforts on our Watershops Pond / Lake Massasoit Dam project.  Just yesterday we were able to restock the pond with fish, thanks to the efforts and partnership from MassWildLife.  I especially want to thank our residents for their patience as we complete this very important work to secure and strengthen the dam so that we can avoid any potential problems and adverse environmental impact.  We were also able to do much-needed cleanup of tornado debris that was thrown into the pond back in 2011.”

“I truly enjoy spending time with our senior community residents at Reeds Landing – such a beautiful setting,” Mayor Sarno continued.  “My thanks to Nick and Judy Fiorentino for their invitation and the warm hospitality shown by all.”
