Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Attorney Talia Gee and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Judi Crowell joined with and thanked Shenell Ford of Heart2Heartbeat Lactation & Wellness for supporting the new parental leave lactation room in City Hall. Ford donated items and shared informational brochures that support the lactation and breastfeeding needs for city employees.

In May 2022, Mayor Sarno, Attorney Talia Gee, Human Resources and Labor Relations (HR) Director Attorney William Mahoney, and Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management (PBRM) Director Patrick Sullivan announced the creation of the parental leave lactation room in City Hall where city employees can take the time to privately address their parental and lactation needs for their precious loved ones.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Shenell Ford for taking the time to support my administration’s efforts to providing our employees a safe, secure and comfortable space to attend to their parental and lactation needs for their family.  Shenell does such a tremendous and wonderful job support parents with their breastfeeding and lactation needs with an outpouring of heartfelt support, information and education.  I also want to thank my former Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Attorney Talia Gee for bringing this need to my attention so that we could create this room for our employees.  I am looking forward to coming together again with Shenell and her dedicated team at Heart2Heartbeat Lactation and Wellness as we look to kick-off National Breastfeeding Awareness Month in August.”

“I cannot thank Mayor Sarno, his staff and everyone at City Hall enough for their outpouring of support to not just bring awareness to this important issue but to actually take action and build a dedicated room to help address the parental and lactation needs for city employees at City Hall.  I am so excited to support this initiative and offer whatever information and materials that will help.  I am also looking forward to celebration National Breastfeeding Awareness Month in August, we will be holding our usual flag raising ceremony as well as having numerous events throughout the month to help bring awareness and share the support programs that exist for anyone in need,” Said Shenell Ford.
