Mayor Sarno Joins United Way of Pioneer Valley for 100th Anniversary Celebration

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with the United Way of Pioneer Valley today for their 100th Anniversary celebration luncheon at the Springfield Sheraton. Mayor Sarno recognized the positive impact that United Way has had on our community and presented United Way of Pioneer Valley CEO Paul Mina with a mayoral citation in honor of the centennial celebration.

Mayor Sarno was also thrilled to present a special proclamation to Springfield’s own and former New York City first lady, Chirlane McCray, who served as the keynote speaker for today’s event. Chirlane McCray, a writer, editor, and advocate has been a leader in championing humanitarian and social causes, most notably mental health awareness and support.

Mayor Sarno states, “In good times or challenging times, I have always been able to count on our partnership with United Way of Pioneer Valley. I want to thank Paul Mina and all our friends at the United Way for continuing to step up and support our community, as you’ve done for the last century. Thank you also to all who came out to support United Way today, especially former NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray who’s leadership on mental health advocacy continues to make a difference for cities like ours all across the country.”
