Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with State Representative Carlos Gonzalez and State Secretary of Health and Human Service Marylou Sudders today at the Springfield Pharmacy located at 894 Main Street.
Representative Gonzalez, in collaboration with Springfield Pharmacy owners Tobias Billups and Dr. Alex Wu, demonstrated the new rapid COVID-19 testing equipment the pharmacy was able to procure through the help of ARPA funds. State Representatives Bud Williams and Brian Ashe also joined for the demonstration.
Mayor Domenic Sarno stated, “I commend Rep. Gonzalez on getting this testing equipment into our neighborhoods, making it much more accessible for many residents to receive COVID-19 tests and results. From the start of this pandemic, we have been focused on reaching all communities and neighborhoods with COVID resources and we must continue to adapt and work together to keep our communities safe and healthy. Thank you Tobias Billups and Dr. Alex Wu for providing this demonstration and making this testing option available to our Springfield community. I also want to thank Secretary Sudders and the Baker-Politio Administration for their continued support of our efforts here in Springfield to combat this COVID-19.”
The Springfield Pharmacy’s Main Street location in Springfield’s South End has acquired four LumiraDx SARS-CoV-2 Ag Test devices through the help of state ARPA funds. The LumiraDx rapid COVID test involves collecting a nasal swab sample and returns results within 12 minutes. The equipment is also portable.
Springfield Pharmacy is now open to the public at 894 Main Street in Springfield for rapid COVID testing Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm on a walk-in basis.
