|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with State Representative Carlos Gonzalez and Ward 1 City Councilor Maria Perez for a special Cinco de Mayo celebration event at Del Rey restaurant on Worthington Street. The family friendly event featured an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly open restaurant in the heart of the dinning district and recognized the contributions of our Springfield Mexican community to the Commonwealth and the City of Springfield as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Executive Director for the Springfield BID Chris Russell, New North Citizens Council and License Commissioner Rosa Espinosa and Parks Commissioner Milagro ‘Terry’ Rodriguez were also on hand.

Mayor Sarno states, “It was great to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with City Councilor Maria Perez and Representative Carlos Gonzalez, Mr. Salsa Economics, at the newly open Del Rey restaurant in the heart of our dinning district.  Our Mexican-American community contribute so much to our Nation, Commonwealth and our City of Springfield.  I want to thank Jacinto Blanco-Munoz and his family and team for hosting us today at his restaurant.  The food and atmosphere is great and I have no doubts that they will become a staple within our downtown dinning community for years to come.”
