Other city officials in the meeting included DPW Deputy Director Greg Superneau, Deputy Director of Parks Peter Krupczak, Licensing Director Attorney Alesia Days, Director of Disaster Recovery and Compliance Tina Quagliato-Sullivan, Deputy Health Commissioner Soloe Dennis, Deputy Chief William Cochrane and Captain Jeffery Martucci.
The Jazz and Roots Festival is scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 12th with the grand unveiling of the mural, followed by the traditional Second Line Parade, a New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition in honor of Charles Neville on Saturday, August 13th. The parade will start from our Springfield Museums and end at Stern Square, Worthington Street and Bridge Street where there will be two stages to highlight the city’s new dinning district.
Mayor Sarno states, “Our beloved Jazz and Roots Festival is a wonderful, high-energy and family friendly event that showcases the beautiful mosaic and diversity of our city. I want to thank Kristin Neville, Evan Plotkin and team, especially all of the benefactors, for their continued belief, support and dedicated efforts in keeping this Festival going strong. This year will be the 9th annual Springfield Jazz and Roots Festival and will kick off with a parade and showcase the power of music to bring people together in unity and harmony at our Stern Square entertainment and dinning districts.
