Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Coach Bill Watson for taking the time to meet with me and my dedicated city team as we continue discussions on enhancing our youth development opportunities and outreach efforts and initiatives for not just our high school students but for all of our children. From our Springfield Youth Athletics (formerly Springfield 5A) to Springfield’s own Christian Wilkins youth football clinic that was held last year and the many youth development opportunities and recreation programs and initiatives offered by the city and our community partners, we are always looking to do more for our youth and their families. Commissioner Clapprood and her dedicated SPD team and Coach Lavar Click do such a great job already and we are excited to build upon these successful programs and initiatives in order to continue success both on the field/court and in the classroom, while also enhancing community/police relationships too.”
