Mayor Sarno stated, “It was great to meet with and welcome President Stephen Spinelli back home. Stephen grew up in the South End neighborhood and has been a life-long entrepreneur and scholar. Notably, Stephen co-founded Jiffy Lube International and was chairman and CEO of the American Oil Change Corporation, helping to pioneer the quick-lube industry nationwide and turning Jiffy Lube into the nation’s dominant competitor with more than 1,000 service centers. He now serves as the 14th President of Babson College but he has never forgotten his hometown of Springfield. I want to applaud Commissioner Clapprood and CAFO Plante for their efforts in advancing this initiative to enhance the leadership skills of our brave and dedicated men and women in blue. As President Spinelli stated, Springfield is a national model with this program.”
As part of Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood’s commitment to enhancing leadership qualities among the supervisors within the Springfield Police Department, twelve (12) police supervisors are taking part in a six week leadership program with Babson College to help foster leadership skills and continue to build upon the positive relationships not only within the department but just as important the community in which they serve.
Also in the meeting was former mayor of the City of Lawrence and former A&F Secretary Mayor Kevin Sullivan and Babson College CAFO Katherine Craven.
