Sherman has served as the City of Springfield Forester/Tree Warden since 2018 and previously served as the Deputy Forester. Sherman has been steadfast in working to maintain the city’s inventory of healthy urban trees, has organized the City of Springfield’s Annual Arbor Day celebration and working with the National Arbor Day Foundation as part of the Springfield’s ‘Tree City’ designation, continues to maintain our local tree nursery and citywide tree planting program and participates in community outreach and education initiatives on the benefits of having healthy trees in our neighborhoods.

Working with PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan, our Parks Department Forestry Division does a wonderful job caring for all of our public shade trees and maintaining our beautiful parks for our urban city. From our tree planting program, operating our own local tree nursery and celebrating our annual Arbor Day celebration, Alex Sherman has been a strong supporter and advocate for our Springfield trees and parks for the benefit of our residents and business community.
