Mayor Sarno and City Officials Meet with Springfield Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Administrative and Financial Officer (CAFO) TJ Plante, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Tim Sheehan, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe and Symphony Hall Manager Amanda Spear-Purchase met with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors to continue ongoing discussions on ending the contract dispute with the Springfield Symphony musicians.

Mayor Sarno stated, “My city team and I had a good ‘give and take’ productive meeting with members of the Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors.  My goal continues to be to bring these two entities back together as one with a plausible and mutually beneficial fiscally and logistically sound agreement for all involved.  I have indicated to both entities that united as one under one umbrella, will not only allow our Springfield Symphony Orchestra to survive, but more importantly thrive in reinvigorating and respecting our generous benefactors, and cultivating new ones. My team and I look forward to continued discussions.”

The Symphony Board of Directors announced earlier this week that Paul Lambert would serve as the boards interim Executive Director.

Mayor Sarno is scheduled to meet with the Musicians of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in the near future to continue discussions on reaching a plausible and mutually beneficial agreement between the two parties.
