Springfield Fire Department Awarded State Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Funding

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi are pleased to announce that the Baker-Polito Administration has notified the Springfield Fire Department that the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) and the Department of Fire Services has awarded the City of Springfield Fire Department $41,632.96 as part of the state Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

Mayor Sarno states, “Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi and I want to thank Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, EOPSS Secretary Terrence Reidy and the state Department of Fire Services for their continued support of the City of Springfield and our brave and dedicated firefighters.  This funding will help provide much-needed and lifesaving safety equipment for our firefighters.  I want to thank Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi for his continued leadership.  Commissioner Calvi and his leadership team at SFD continue to support and advocate for enhancing our Fire Departments operations and equipment for the betterment of our residents and business community.”    

Fire Commissioner Calvi stated, “I am appreciative of the Baker-Polito administrations continued support of our public safety officials across the Commonwealth, especially for our Springfield Fire Department.  Thank you to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and to the Department of Fire Services for their support and awarding this firefighter safety equipment grant funding.  Throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, the brave and dedicated team at SFD continue to protect and serve our residents and businesses.  This funding will help to keep our firefighters equipped so that we can continue to save lives and property.”
