Mayor Sarno Congratulates Longtime Community Activist Michael Borecki on a well-deserved Retirement

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Michael ‘Mike’ Borecki and family to City Hall to congratulate him on a well-deserved retirement. After 15 years with our Springfield Public Schools, Mike is ready to call it a career. Mike is a proud Springfield native, a Technical High School graduate and Navy veteran who is very passionate about giving back to his community and remains very active volunteering his time with numerous community and school events including serving as Western Massachusetts CYO Basketball Chairman, a member of the Van Horn Park Monument Committee, member of the Save Walker Stadium Committee, President of the Holy Name Athletic Association and as Bring It Home Baseball Chairman, just to name a few.

Mayor Sarno states, “Throughout his career and through his community work, Mike has left a lasting impact and legacy on thousands of children.  He has paved the way for young leaders to follow.  Mikes passion of giving back to our community is truly second-to-none.  Congratulations my friend on a well-deserved and happy and healthy retirement.”

Mayor Sarno presented Mike with a proclamation declaring Monday, January 10, 2022 as ‘Michael ‘Mike’ Borecki Day’ in the City of Springfield.  Mike will enjoy spending time with his beloved family; wife Cristina, daughters Theresa and Darcy, granddaughter Kailani and his many family and friends who love him dearly.
