Mayor Sarno Appreciative of the Eastern States Exposition for Providing the City with Generous Mask Donation

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno is very appreciative of the Eastern States Exposition – The Big E – who reached out to generously donate 32,000 surgical masks to the city. The Harold Grinspoon Foundation originally provided the masks to The Big E.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am deeply appreciative of Eastern States Exposition (ESE) President & CEO Eugene Cassidy, ESE Foundation Director Nancy Delson, and the entire Big E for this generous and neighborly donation. My thanks also to our friend Harold Grinspoon for his support of The Big E with this personal protective equipment. A big thank you too to our dedicated DPW crews for getting these masks picked-up. This donation is a great reminder that the spirit of giving is alive and well. More than ever we must work together and remain vigilant in order to put this virus behind us.”

President and CEO of Eastern States Exposition Gene Cassidy stated, “We received a donation of 150,000 facemasks from local philanthropist Harold Grinspoon for this year’s Big E and provided free masks to our guests.  We are grateful to Mr. Grinspoon for his generous gift and happy to share a portion of our remaining masks with the City of Springfield.”

Mayor Sarno went on, “As we continue through the holiday season, let us also remember we still must take precautions to protect ourselves and others against COVID-19. We have worked with our dedicated partners to set up lifesaving clinics stationed all across our city – please, and again, get your shot. All vaccine doses and boosters are available. Remember, too, that masks are encouraged indoors and to wash your hands frequently. Together we can ensure a safe and healthy holiday season.”

Visit the City’s website to find a vaccination site and make your appointment.
