Mayor Sarno Joined Comcast at YMCA of Greater Springfield for Special Grant Announcement

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Mayoral Aide Coach Lavar Click-Bruce joined with Comcast Vice President of Government/Regulatory Affairs and Community Impact Dan Glanville, Comcast Senior Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs Eileen Leahy, and YMCA of Greater Springfield President and CEO Dexter Johnson at the YMCA of Greater Springfield’s North End Outreach Center to announce a special grant for the YMCA to help Springfield youth stay connected online with free Wi-Fi. Comcast will support this digital literacy programming and access to the internet through the Comcast Lift Zone Opportunity Fund thanks to a $25,000 grant.

In addition, Comcast also announced that they have partnered with the Spirit of Springfield to donate 300 tickets to Bright Nights in Forest Park to be given to the children at the YMCA of Greater Springfield.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Comcast VP Dan Glanville, Eileen Leahy and team for their continued support of our Springfield community, especially with our children and keeping them connected online.  YMCA President Dexter Johnson and his team do such a tremendous job with our youth and their families with the many programs they offer.  This was also the first time I got to see one of those 3D printers, I know our kids are going to be learning a lot thanks to this very generous grant.”

“Additionally, Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt and myself want to thank Comcast for their partnership with our beloved Bright Nights in Forest Park,” said Mayor Sarno.  “This donation of 300 tickets will allow our children and their families at the YMCA of Greater Springfield to enjoy the festive and holiday lights.  Comcast continues to be a great corporate neighbor, giving back to our community.”
