Mayor Sarno and City Officials Meet with Members of State Cannabis Control Commission

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, City Solicitor Edward Pikula, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Attorney Talia Gee and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe met with Commission members Nurys Camargo and Springfield’s own Bruce Stebbins and Yaw Gyebi, Jr., Chief of Investigations and Enforcement.

Mayor Sarno states, “It was great meeting with former Springfield City Councilor and Mass Gaming Commissioner, and now Cannabis Control Commission member Bruce Stebbins again.  We had a good discussion on the states continued efforts with administering the Commonwealth’s laws and regulations with this new industry.  We were happy to hear the Commissioners Camargo, Stebbins and Chief Gyebi, Jr., commend and re-enforce our process.  My Administration has now completed two rounds of applications for marijuana licenses and I am proud to state that we have had an effective, transparent and thorough process locally where we have approved numerous social equity applications to move forward with Host Community Agreements.  It was also good to meet with Commissioner Nurys Camargo and Chief Yaw Gyebi Jr.  I have known Nurys from her time with Governor Deval Patrick and her AT&T days, and I am looking forward to continue working with her and all of the Commissioners as we continue to move this new economic industry forward to create more jobs and spinoff ancillary workforces, supplies and material needs.”
