Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined in support of the annual Gunnery Sergeant Thomas J. Sullivan remembrance run in East Forest Park on Sunday. Mayor Sarno was honored with an award of appreciation for his continued support of the GYSGT Thomas J. Sullivan Memorial Foundation. GYSGT Thomas J. Sullivan – Tommy – grew up in Springfield and gave his life to save others while defending his country.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I was humbled, honored, and surprised to receive this award of appreciation. This is a great event that continues to honor a true hero, GYSGT Thomas J. Sullivan, who leaves a legacy of youth scholarship. It was great to be there to honor his memory and to donate and support this foundation.”
