Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi held a promotion and swearing in ceremony for four recently promoted firefighters and one newly installed department Chaplin today, Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Raymond M. Sullivan Public Safety Complex.
Mayor Sarno was proud to congratulate these committed public safety officials. He stated, “We must always remember and never forget, when everyone else is running out of the building, our firefighters and police officers are running in to save lives and structures. My congratulations and thanks to our brave and dedicated Springfield Fire Department personnel and their families and to my friend Archbishop Baymon. On behalf of the residents of our great city, we thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our community safe and we truly appreciate your service to our Springfield. Godspeed.”
Promoted today were Captain Leo Piecooch promoted to District Chief; Lieutenant Sean Connery promoted to Captain; Firefighter’s Sam Nelson and Juan Barrera promoted to Lieutenant; and the Honorable Archbishop Timothy Paul Baymon was also sworn in as a department Chaplin.
