Mayor Sarno and City ARPA Team Meets with Councilors Edwards and Lederman to Discuss ARPA Funds

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan, Director of Recovery and Business Continuity Attorney Tom Moore and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe met with City Councilors Melvin Edwards and Jesse Lederman to continue discussions on how to build upon the numerous projects and initiatives the City has implemented for the betterment of our residents and business community. Also discussed was potential use of ARPA funding to enhance future projects to keep Springfield’s economy moving forward.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Councilors Melvin Edwards and Jesse Lederman for taking the time to meet with me and my ARPA team.  Their continued efforts to work with my Administration for the good of all our residents and business community is deeply appreciated.  We had a good discussion on potential use of our City’s ARPA funding and what programs and initiatives could benefit from an investment of ARPA monies.  Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood and I also appreciate their support of our Gun Buy-Back program sponsored by the Springfield Police Department and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.  We are looking forward to another successful event this Saturday at our Raymond M. Sullivan Safety Complex.  Stay tuned for future announcements as we continue to review opportunities for the best use of city resources and to maximize the value of our local investments, especially from the federal ARPA funds and future potential federal infrastructure funding too.”
