Mayor Sarno, Congressman Neal and State Senator Lesser Joined with the Health Connector to Highlight New Health Insurance Benefits Created by the American Rescue Plan

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Congressman Richard Neal and State Senator Eric Lesser joined with representatives from the Commonwealth’s Health Connector to highlight the new health insurance benefits created by the American Rescue Plan at the Caring Health Center in Springfield

Also in attendance was Ali Reza-Reyes representing State Senator Adam Gomez and Ayanna Crawford representing State Representative Orlando Ramos.

The American Rescue Plan (ARP), a robust $1.9 trillion federal COVID-19 relief package, was signed into law earlier this year. Among its many provisions, the ARP grants access to a zero-dollar health plan via Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges like the Massachusetts Health Connector for any person who received unemployment benefits during 2021.

Mayor Sarno states, “Again, I cannot thank Congressman Neal enough for his continued dedicated leadership.  He continues to advocate for not just our Springfield residents but all residents in the Commonwealth and across the nation.  Thanks to the Baker-Polito Administration and the Commonwealth’s Health Connector for coordinating this public service announcement to help get these vital and important benefits to those in need.  Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and I are grateful to Tania Barber and her dedicated and compassionate team at the Caring Health Center as they continue to provide the services and outreach needed for the betterment of our residents.”
