Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris announced today the appointment of Tiana Davis as the new Deputy Public Health Commissioner for the City of Springfield Department of Health and Human Services.

Since 2019, as Clinical Health Manager for the City’s Health Center that serves homeless and other vulnerable populations throughout Springfield as well as Hampshire, Hampden, and Franklin Counties, Ms. Davis coordinated Health Center operations related to patient care, staff development and training, program data collection and billing, and managed contracts with community partners.

Mayor Sarno stated, “It was great to welcome our new Health and Human Services Deputy Public Health Commissioner Tiana Davis.  HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and I are glad to have Ms. Davis on board.  Ms. Davis is highly qualified and is no stranger to community and public health work.  Her experience, education and passion to helping our community is commendable and I have no doubts that she will serve our residents and business community with distinction.  Public health is always important, but sometimes is taken for granted.  Public health’s importance was never magnified more than with our continued battle to defeat this COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.  I’d again like to give a big shout out to our whole city team, especially HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, for their unyielding efforts to defeat COVID-19.  Special thanks too to our residents, business community and all medical professionals and first responders, frontline workers and their families who many a times were taken for granted on the importance of their efforts.”

HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris states, “I am excited that Tiana Davis has accepted the position of Deputy Public Health Commissioner.  Ms. Davis is a strong and capable public health professional who has built strong community relationships in the City of Springfield and her attention to detail and her work ethic has helped our Health Center thrive.  I am confident she will excel in this new role and position.”

Deputy Commissioner Tiana Davis stated, “I want to thank Mayor Sarno and Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris for their vote of confidence.  I am excited to work together with our dedicated city team and our residents in this new capacity.”

A lifelong resident of Springfield Massachusetts, Ms. Davis holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Springfield College.
