Springfield Vax Force to Hold Faith and Science Vaccination Clinic at St. John’s Congregational Church

The Springfield Vax Force in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will hold a Faith and Science vaccination event at St. John’s Congregational Church Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This interfaith community vaccination clinic will help our community using science, data, and information to guide the decision-making process for all residents ready to receive their vaccine shot.

Those residents interested in registering for their vaccine appointment can do so at the link below.  In addition, residents can visit the City of Springfield’s website for a list of all available vaccination links.

As of April 19, 2021, Massachusetts has entered Phase 3 of the vaccine distribution plan.  The City of Springfield will be utilizing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.  As such, everyone over the age of 18 is now eligible to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “I want to thank our dedicated Vax Force members for their continued unyielding efforts in helping to educate and dispel myths and rumors about vaccines.  I also want to thank St. John’s Congregational Church for hosting this very important vaccination clinic event.  It is vital that we reach out to our faith-based community leaders to help get true and factual information about vaccines to all of our residents.”

HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris stated, “I am grateful to the members of the Vax Force Committee and to the St. John’s Congregational Church for holding this Faith and Science vaccination clinic.  Springfield is a Social Equity Community and this event will help our community strategically reach those residents who want to get the vaccine but may have difficulty getting to the mass vaccination site at the Eastfield Mall or to one of our local neighborhood sites.”

“As we continued our overall efforts to defeat this COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic – and we will, Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and I fully support the initiatives of our Vax Force,” Mayor Sarno added.  “This assembled group of diverse, respected, and trusted individuals within our Springfield community is dedicated and committed to reassuring our Springfield residents by utilizing science, medical, and public health information on the important role vaccines play to keeping us all healthy.  This is a critical step for not only defeating COVID-19, but just as important, vital in building concrete public, consumer, and business confidence.  I am very grateful to Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, our dedicated HHS staff, and all committee members who have agreed to serve and guide our efforts on behalf of our residents.  Conspiracy theories never solved any medical challenge, vaccines do.”
