Springfield Public Schools Meal Service Good Friday Schedule and Adjustment for Return to School

Good Friday Schedule Changes

Home Grown Springfield, the culinary and nutrition program of Springfield Public Schools, will be closed on Friday, April 2nd. To ensure all families have the meals they need for the long weekend, additional meals will be served Monday, March 29th and Wednesday March 31st from 2 – 6 p.m. The meals provided include breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for multiple days.

 

Next week, the following schools will be open for grab-and-go meal service: Bowles, Brookings, Central, Chestnut, DeBerry, Duggan, Forest Park, Harris, Indian Orchard, Lincoln, Milton Bradley, Putnam, Rebecca Johnson, Talmadge, Van Sickle, Warner, Washington, Zanetti.

Please note: The Central High School food distribution location will be open on Good Friday, April 2 for meal pick-up alongside OASIS food distribution from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Schedule Changes for In-Person Learning

Beginning Monday, April 5th, meal service will shift to accommodate the return to in-person learning. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all in-person students during school hours.

Grab-and-go meal service will be provided from 4-6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the following locations: Boland, Bowles, Brookings, Chestnut, Forest Park, Indian Orchard, Milton Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, Talmadge, Warner, Washington.

The following locations will no longer offer grab-and-go meals after April 5th: Central, DeBerry, Duggan, Harris, Lincoln, Putnam, Van Sickle, and Zanetti. The district will continuously evaluate the need of students and families and will re-open locations if needed.

 

About the Meals Program

Any child or teen 18 or under is eligible for the meal program. No ID necessary to receive meals, they do not need to be from Springfield, live in Springfield, or attend Springfield Public Schools.
