Mayor Sarno Welcomes Father Dionysios Koulianos, Dean of St. George Cathedral

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Rev. Father Dionysios Koulianos, Presiding Priest of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Rev. Fr. Dionysios Koulianos was born and grew up in Katerini, Greece on December 6, 1974, where he received his primary and secondary education. In March 1998, he relocated to the United States to the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Fr. Dionysios and his wife, Maria, relocated to their new home on March 1, 2020, when he was installed by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios and elevated to the position as Dean of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral here in Springfield.

Mayor Sarno stated, “It was great meeting with Father Dionysios Koulianos.  Our beloved Greek Cultural Center and St. George Cathedral are staples in our community.  I truly enjoyed our time working together with Father Christopher Stamas and I am looking forward to having a great spiritual and working relationship with Father Koulianos.  On behalf of the residents of our great City, I welcome Father Koulianos to the City of Springfield.”

Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Liza Pappas, the Bicentennial Greek Independence Flag raising coordinator, and Aspasia Gravanis also attended the meeting.
