Representative Williams thanked Mayor Sarno and Commissioner Caulton-Harris for organizing the City’s Vax Force to provide educational and outreach efforts to the community to help dispel myths and falsehoods, and for collaborating with AMR to provide COVID-19 testing within our neighborhoods, especially at Rebecca Johnson School for our residents of Old Hill, Upper Hill, Bay, and McKnight.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank Representative Bud Williams for his unyielding efforts in advocating the state for the resources needed to help mitigate the community spread of this COVID-19 Coronavirus. Thanks to his partnership, Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and I were able to collaborate with AMR to provide testing on a neighborhood level. With the help from the Commonwealth, the City of Springfield is prepared to provide this same neighborhood level outreach for the vaccine. We have identified ten (10) neighborhood locations that we can set up for our residents. All we need is a supply of the vaccine.”
Also in the meeting was Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan, CAFO TJ Plante, and Director of Capital Asset Construction Peter Garvey.
