Mayor Sarno and Team Watch Live as Ruth E. Carter’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is Dedicated

Today, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce dedicated the 2694th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to Springfield native, Ruth E. Carter. Carter is only the second person ever to receive this honor in the costume design category. She is the first black costume designer to be awarded a star.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and staff watched the virtual ceremony live and cheered on the Oscar-winner as Carter’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was officially dedicated.

Mayor Sarno stated, “Hey, not bad for a Springfield kid – Hollywood icons Oprah Winfrey and Eddie Murphy standing up for our very own Ruth Carter – congrats again, and way to go – we’re so proud of you! Good health to you and your family, Ruth. Continued success and hope to see you soon. God bless.

Respectfully,

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno”
