Mayor Sarno and HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris Continue Bi-weekly Vax Force Meetings

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris hosted the fourth meeting of the Vaccine Education Committee (“Vax Force”) today. 

The Vax Force is comprised of fifteen committee members offering expertise in the areas of health clinician data and information, research, education, faith, and diversity, equity and inclusion. The Vax Force continues to implement their phased strategy for communicating vaccine information with the community. Today, they were joined by representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Yves Singletary and Liz Cox.

The following were also in attendance at today’s Zoom meeting: Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, as well as Executive Director for the Springfield Housing Authority Denise Jordan, Nursing Supervisor for Springfield Public Schools Jeanne Clancy, CEO for New North Citizens Council Maria Ligus, COO for New North Citizens Council Jose Claudio, Director of UMass Population Health Capstone Dr. Sarah McAdoo, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Baystate Health Yemisi Oloruntola-Coates, Director of Operations Harm Reduction for Tapestry Health Systems Damaris Jones, Clinical Associate Professor of Community Care for the Western New England University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Dr. Melissa Mattison, Dr. Kathleen Szegda from the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts, Assistant General Counsel for Health New England Ashley Bogle, Wesley Days of the Public Health Council, Dr. Andrew Balder from the Mason Square Health Center, Fernanda H. Meier from Partners in Healthcare, and founder and CEO of the Axiom Blue Corporation Angela D. Mack.

The Vax force is preparing for a community town-hall style meeting which will be held in March. Please check the City of Springfield website for more details to follow about the Vax Force town hall meeting which the public is encouraged to attend.
