Mayor Sarno stated, “Based on the review by the City’s Internal Review Committee as well as the New North Citizens’ Council, as well as the City’s Consultant and legal team, I am sending an amended Host Community Agreement to the City Council for consideration of the 6 Bricks, LLC request for a Special Permit that is pending with the Council.”
The Mayor issued four Host Community Agreements in July 2019 to applicants that included Holistic Industries, INSA, Inc., 6 Brick’s LLC, and 311 Page Blvd, LLC. The original HCA with 6 Brick’s LLC was for a site at 250 Albany Street. In September of 2020, after COVID-19 shut down the marijuana industry for two months, “curbside” was introduced to ensure a safe and efficient way for customers to secure product while minimizing contact. 6 Bricks asked the City to approve a change of address, as allowed by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. A special permit for a location at 1860 Main Street is pending with the City Council.
6 Brick’s, LLC conducted a community outreach meeting on September 23, 2020 on the plans for the newly proposed location, and met with the New North Citizen’s Council on November 10, 2020 and followed up on December 1, 2020. The Mayor asked that the request to change of location be considered by members of the Internal Review Committee, and the Committee recommended approval of the change of location.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I will ask Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood to work with 6 Bricks LLC, the New North Citizens’ Council, and other neighborhood stakeholders to make sure neighborhood security concerns are appropriately addressed. In addition, 6 Bricks has informed the City that it will create a community advisory board for the purpose of establishing open communication between the Company and community members about neighborhood concerns.”
As with all other Host Community Agreements for marijuana establishments, the Company will be prohibited from assigning, in whole or in part, any portion of the Agreement without the prior written consent of the City.
“Working with our consultant, Attorney Julie Steiner, as well as our legal team, an amended HCA is being completed for signatures,” said Mayor Sarno. “I am happy that we can help companies led by people of color, women, and veterans, and particularly, Social Equity Program participants and Economic Empowerment Applicants to operate in our City. This continues my administration’s efforts of creating new jobs and new revenue sources for our community.”
