Springfield Fire Department Swears in 10 New Firefighters

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi held a swearing in ceremony at the Raymond M. Sullivan Public Safety Complex today for 10 new firefighters.   

Those sworn in as the newest members of the Springfield Fire Department include:  Dominic Bushway, Magdiel Colon jr., Brian Echevarria, Franklyn Jimenez, Conor Murphy, Brandon Obuchowski, Anthony Plazaola, Manuel Rodriguez, V Chance Seymour, and Jose Tejada.

Mayor Sarno stated, “My congratulations and thanks to our brave and dedicated Fire Department personnel and their families,” said Mayor Sarno.  “On behalf of the residents of our great city, we thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our community safe and we truly appreciate your service to our Springfield.  Although this swearing in ceremony was done without the usual gathering of family and friends, know that your commitment and dedication is greatly appreciated and that everyone in the City of Springfield, including your family, is proud of you all.  Godspeed.”

Commissioner Calvi states, “Congratulations to all of our newest recruits.  On behalf of the Springfield Fire Department, we are all looking forward to working together on behalf of our residents.  All of the new recruits have a bright future with our SFD and I wish to congratulate all of them and their families.  Job well done.”
