City of Springfield to Temporarily Close Cyr Arena after Potential COVID-19 Exposure

The City of Springfield Department of Parks and Recreation, in consultation with Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and adhering to the City of Springfield’s Health and Human Services COVID-19 public health and safety protocols, is temporarily closing the Cyr Arena, effective immediately, after learning of a potential COVID-19 Coronavirus exposure earlier this month.

This action is taken out of an abundance of caution to help mitigate the community spread of the Coronavirus as the City of Springfield is listed as a “Red” / High-Risk community.

The City of Springfield Department of Health and Human Services in cooperation with the Community Tracing Collaborative is continuing with all contact-tracing.  The Cyr Arena will be closed for two to three weeks for deep cleaning protocols.  All hockey teams and parties that are scheduled to use the facility will be contacted concerning this incident.  In addition, all parties will be reminded that they must adhere to all of the City’s public health guidelines and protocols and follow the city and the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 safety plans.

The City of Springfield continues to stress the importance for all residents to practice healthy hygiene and to follow and adhere to all public health and safety protocols and measures.
