The dialogue between city departments and community partners included information to identify gaps, lesson learned solidifying the department planning efforts that focuses on emergency response plans, policies, and procedures. Some events that were discussed was the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, Influenza (Flu) season and winter weather response. The emphasis of the discussion focused on the planning, intelligence and information sharing, operational coordination, community resilience, threat and hazard identification and operational communications.
Those in attendance included Mayor Domenic J. Sarno; Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris; Deputy Health Commissioner Soloe Dennis, Tony Pettaway, Director of Operations for the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response; Bob Hassett, Director of Emergency Services; Elder Affairs Director Sandy Federico, Mayoral Aide Lavar Click, and representatives from the Springfield Police and Fire Departments and the city's Office of Housing, Baystate Health, and the local homeless shelters.
