Mayor Sarno states, “I applaud the Indian Orchard Citizen’s Council‘s efforts to expand their very successful ‘Indian Orchard Blooms’ Campaign to Boston Road, long recognized as Springfield’s Premiere Commercial & Business Shopping Corridor. I also want to acknowledge and thank all of the Boston Road Businesses that were able to participate by sponsoring a flower basket along this Business Corridor. I am proud I do! This will help keep the neighborhood vibrant and highlight the important role that Boston Road plays in Springfield’s local economy.”
The Indian Orchard Blooms’ Campaign is an annual event sponsored by the Indian Orchard Neighborhood Council aimed at beautifying the neighborhood through the sponsorship of flower baskets, which are hung throughout Indian Orchard. The campaign has grown every year, from the initial launch of 75 baskets hung in 2018 to 125 flower baskets in 2019. This year, despite the pandemic, the Blooms’ Campaign expanded onto Boston Road and many businesses along Boston Road stepped up to sponsor a flower basket in support of the neighborhood council’s efforts to beautify the neighborhood.
Those in attendance included; Ward 8 City Councilor Orlando Ramos; City Councilor Jesse Lederman; Indian Orchard Neighborhood Council President Zaida Govan; Indian Orchard Business Connections Committee Chairman and former State Representative Paul E. Caron; State Representatives Jose Tosado and Angelo J. Puppolo, Jr.; State Senator James Welch; Representatives from the Indian Orchard Neighborhood Council; Representatives from Eastman Corp.; Representative from the Eastfield Mall and residents from Indian Orchard.
