Springfield Fire Department Holds Swearing-In Ceremony

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi held a swearing-in ceremony for five (5) new firefighters at the Raymond M. Sullivan Public Safety Complex on Friday, August 21, 2020. In addition, there was a pinning ceremony for the promotion of a new Deputy Chief.

Jason Chenier, Chad Furneli, Andre Gonzalez, Anthony Hiller, and Emanuel Williams were all sworn in today as new firefighters for the SFD.  Dave Wells was also promoted to Deputy Chief.

Mayor Sarno congratulated Springfield’s newest public safety officials and thanked them and their families for their service to our community.

“My congratulations and thanks to our brave and dedicated Springfield Fire Department personnel and their families.  On behalf of the residents of our great city, we thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our community safe and we truly appreciate your service to our Springfield.  Godspeed,” said Mayor Sarno. 

Commissioner Calvi stated, “Congratulations to all of our newest recruits.  On behalf of the Springfield Fire Department, we are looking forward to working together on behalf of our residents.  All of our new recruits have a bright future with our SFD and I wish to congratulate them and their families.  Job well done.”
