Mayor Sarno Thanks MGM Springfield for Donating Water to City Cooling Centers

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno thanked MGM Springfield for donating much needed water to the City of Springfield’s cooling centers.

Due to the recent heat advisory in effect, where temperatures could reach in excess of 100 degrees, the City of Springfield opened cooling centers throughout the city to provide relief from the heat for residents.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank MGM Springfield President and COO Chris Kelley and his team for their generous donation of water to our city’s cooling centers.  MGM Springfield has once again stepped up to assist our residents and I cannot thank them enough for their continued support, belief and investment in our Springfield.”

Water was delivered to the South End Community Center (SECC) by MGM Springfield Director of Government Affairs Jose Delgado and was distributed to the cooling centers throughout the city by Tony Pettaway, Director of Operations for the City of Springfield’s Department of Health and Human Services.

While at the SECC, Mayor Sarno stopped in to visit his old stomping grounds, which is near and dear to his heart, and greeted SECC Executive Director Wesley Jackson, the staff and kids.
