Mayor Sarno Joined with Mothers Overlooked Reachout Empowerment (M.O.R.E.) for Rally Against Gun Violence on Front Steps of City Hall

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with members of M.O.R.E. lead by Ms. Juanita Batchelor, President of M.O.R.E., and School Committeewoman LaTonia Naylor and City Councilor Adam Gomez to speak at a City Hall steps rally to bring justice and compassion to families of the murdered and missing.

Both Mayor Sarno and mother’s / family members emotionally spoke and railed against gun and gang violence and why our Courts and Judges are letting out these repeat and violent offenders time and again to continue to bring harm to our loved ones on our streets and in our neighborhoods.

Both Mayor Sarno and M.O.R.E. have pledged to work together with our Police Department, not only for continued proactive efforts on prevention programs, but also to continue to get other community and neighborhood members to collaborate and work with all of us to keep our streets and neighborhoods clean and safe and just as important, demand our Courts and Judges to respect our streets and neighborhoods and keep these repeat violent offenders locked up.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I give these mothers and family members a lot of respect and credit.  While their actions will not bring back their loved ones, their unselfish and continued efforts are to prevent other mothers and families from losing their loved ones.  I will proudly stand with them in their fight for change to protect our loved ones, our neighborhoods and our Springfield.”
