Mayor Sarno Visited and Thanked the Volunteers at the Oasis Food Pantry

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno today visited and thanked the volunteers at the Oasis Food Pantry at Central High School.  Every Friday morning “like a fine-tuned machine with heart,” the Oasis Food Pantry gives out a variety of foods for those in need.  Meats, fruits, vegetables and starting today milk are all provided.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I cannot thank John Foley and the entire team of volunteers at the Oasis Food Pantry enough for their compassion and giving.  Also, special thanks to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, Sodexo, Superintendent Dan Warwick, Central High School Principal Tad Tokarz, my Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood and SPD, DPW Director Chris Cignoli and staff, and Tony Calabrese of AC Produce too.”

“These are challenging and unprecedented times,” Mayor Sarno added.  “My administration has continued to partner together with our community stakeholders to reassure our families that help is there if needed.  Thanks to their efforts, nearly 3,500 families have been served.  I am truly humbled and proud of the fact that even as we face such adversity, our greater Springfield community has stood together, as one, as we all work to defeat this virus.  The outpouring of support is truly heartwarming.”
