Mayor Domenic J. Sarno applauds and is deeply thankful to all of our Springfield residents and business community for their continued support of our Springfield Police, Fire and frontline personnel.
Earlier this morning, retired Springfield City Clerk Attorney Wayman Lee, Jesse Spinks (one of Springfield’s all-time hoop greats - High School of Commerce) and Andrew Keaton joined with Mayor Sarno and Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris to donate 100 KN95 masks for our city’s Police and Fire Departments. Attorney Lee, Mr. Spinks and Mr. Keaton are all part of the C.R.E.W., which stand for Collectively, Recognizing, Empowerment, Within, Inc. The C.R.E.W. is a group of sixteen (16) African-American men who believes that education, culture, career exploration and community awareness and development are the keys to healthy community. The C.R.E.W. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The C.R.E.W. is organized exclusively for educational purposes, social and more specific community awareness and career development.
In addition, Chuck Jacobs, husband to Springfield Public Schools Principal Rhonda Jacobs, dropped off two thermal infrared thermometer (still in need of more) for our Police and Fire Departments. Also, Dave Horgan, Media Instructure at the Springfield Conservatory of the Arts donated 100 N95 masks for our frontline and homeless providers (still in need of more).
Mayor Sarno stated, “Again, I’m so thankful of these gentlemen and friends, who said they heard my impassioned plea for our Springfield Police, Fire and frontline providers PPE needs and they came through big time! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Not to my surprise, Springfield 413 is always very caring.”
