City of Springfield’s Health & Human Services Informational Series Scheduled for Next Week are POSTPONED

In response to Governor Baker’s most recent guidance issued to protect our residents, especially our seniors.  Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, along with Health & Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, and Director of Elder Affairs Sandy Federico have announced that the informational meeting schedule for our seniors on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Ray Jordan Senior Center and Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Riverview Senior Center have been postponed.  

Mayor Sarno states, “After reviewing the most recent updates and developments from the Governor’s Office and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Health Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and myself have decided that it is better to err on the side of caution.  We will continue to monitor and adhere to all of the developments and updates concerning the COVID-19 situation.  Our number one priority is the health and safety of our residents, especially our seniors.”

Health Commissioner Caulton-Harris added, “I would have loved to have had these two information session with our seniors but at this point it would be best to postpone the meetings on Monday and Tuesday.  We will continue to monitor the most recent developments and will reevaluate the situation over the weekend so that we can rescheduled these meetings with our seniors at a later date.  The City of Springfield’s Health and Human Services Department is fully committed to keeping our seniors updated and informed with factual information.”

The City of Springfield will hold a series of COVID-19 situational update meetings over the next three Mondays to provide situational updates on the precautionary measures taking place to ensure the safety of the public.  These meetings will also provide an update on the City of Springfield’s response to the Coronavirus and provide clarity on what the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the CDC is advising as precautionary measures.  The situational update meetings will take at Springfield City Hall, Room 220 on the following dates and time:

                             Monday, March 16, 2020, at 10:15 a.m.

                             Monday, March 23, 2020 at 10:15 a.m.

                             Monday, March 30, 2020 at 10:15 a.m.
