Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Superintendent of Schools Dan Warwick, Health Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood, Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi and Emergency Preparedness Director Bob Hassett, to provide an update on the City of Springfield’s response to the Coronavirus and provide clarity on what the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the CDC is advising as precautionary measures.
The City of Springfield is committed to keeping our residents and business community informed about the latest developments involving the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Please note that, at this time, there are no known cases of COVID-19 among our students, Springfield Public School staff or the Springfield community.
The City of Springfield will continue to take the best available data we receive and listen to the experts.
All of our city departments will continue to take precautionary measures.
The city will continue to adhere to the precautionary measures and guidance that are issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the CDC to help monitor and respond to these growing concerns and developments of COVID-19.
Mayor Sarno states, “Very proud of our city team. We have been tried and tested through a number of natural and man-made disasters and prevailed very well. Again, and as always in these potential situations, we will let you know what has or has not occurred – what we are proactively doing about it and just as important, we’ll get through this together and prevail once again.”
