Mayor Domenic J. Sarno's Historic Fifth Inaugural Events

Springfield, MA – Celebrations for the 2020 Inauguration of Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will begin Sunday, January 5, 2020 and conclude Saturday, January 11, 2020.  The Inauguration marks Mayor Sarno’s fifth term (third four-year term and two two-year terms).  He is now the longest-serving mayor in the City of Springfield’s history.  All celebratory events are free and open to the public.

  • Prior to the formal Inauguration ceremony, a Mass will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with pastries and refreshments to follow in the Parish Center.
  • Mayor Domenic J. Sarno’s Inauguration ceremony will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Symphony Hall.
  • Festivities will continue Monday evening, as all visitors to Bright Nights at Springfield’s Forest Park from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. will be greeted and thanked by Mayor Sarno and his family and offered free admission.
  • The Inaugural Gala will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy in the grand hall entranceway, and will conclude Inaugural celebrations.
