A Heartwarming Holiday Gift: American Citizenship

Springfield, MA – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present candidates for naturalization to the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts during a special naturalization ceremony tomorrow. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will present to more than 200 citizenship candidates who reside in Western Massachusetts. The group will be taking the Oath of Allegiance and receiving their Certificate of Naturalization to complete the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.

“As a son of Italian immigrants, I am happy to be with each of these individuals as they officially become citizens of the United States of America. Our country is a melting pot and the traditions brought from our home countries are an important piece of the fabric of our nation,” said Mayor Sarno. “And especially during this holiday season is American citizenship certainly a heartwarming gift.”

The Honorable U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastrioianni will preside over the ceremony.
