Mayor Sarno Appoints Roy Goodman as 311 Citizens Service Center Director

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno today announced Roy Goodman as the new Director of the 311 Citizens Service Center, following the retirement of longtime Director Donna Carney.

Mayor Sarno stated, “First of all, everywhere I go, everyone loves our 311 Citizens Service Center. We’re going to keep this momentum and good feelings moving forward with a smooth transition of the appointment of Mr. Roy Goodman to replace retiring Director Carney, who did an outstanding job in this customer service based approach. Incoming Director Goodman will continue this fine tradition.”

“I am very thankful for the opportunity that has been provided, it is a true blessing.  I want to thank Mayor Sarno, Donna Carney, TJ Plante and Tom Ashe for having the confidence in me to continue to lead this great office. I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing to have the 311 Service Department to provide great service to the residents of this great city,” added Director Goodman.

Director Goodman began as a Customer Service Representative in the 311 Call Center in 2017 and has years of customer service and related experience. Prior to working for the City, he had worked as a Ticket Agent for Delta Airlines and was a Senior Claims Service Specialist for Arbella Mutual Insurance for over 20 years. Additionally, Goodman worked for Wilbraham Monson Academy as an athletic coach and security guard. He began his career as a Recreation Specialist at Westover Job Corps.

In his spare time, Director Goodman enjoy mentoring our youth by volunteering at the W.E.B. Dubois Saturday School Academy. He has been long involved with youth baseball, having co-founded Springfield’s 5A Youth Baseball League, coordinates the Viola Goodman Memorial Baseball Camp –named for his late mother and sponsored by the Boston Red Sox – and volunteers with the Springfield Titans Baseball Club.

Director Goodman holds a B.A. in Business Administration from American International College. He is a Springfield native and resides in the City with his wife Kathy and son RC.
